Vineyard Bible Institute
(VBI) is one of the ways the
Association of Vineyard Churches offers training to people in the local church setting. VBI offers Bible college level courses and is accredited through
St. Stephens University in New Brunswick, Canada. There are three tracks of study - Discipleship, Academic, and Degree. The cost of tuition is dependent on the track that you study. Diplomas are offered in Kingdom Theology, Biblical Theology, Practical Theology and Arts. Some of our teachers will include Pastors Andy and Sharon Meade, Dr. Randall Pannell, Jon Bailey, and others. If you have a desire to learn more about the Bible, grow in your leadership, want to learn about church planting, evangelism, or missions, VBI is for you. The following classes are currently being offered:
Matthew & Mark
Tuesdays, October 21, 7:00 - 9:00 pm

Doing Church
Wednesdays, October 22, 7:00 - 9:00 pm

The Discipleship Program has no academic/educational entrance requirements.
- Lecturers are instructed to avoid technical or difficult words.
- The lecturers have Bachelors qualifications in the relevant field or more.
- It is aimed at the normal lay church member.
- Assignments are multiple choice or single text or single phrase questions that establish whether the student has read and understood the material.
- Local churches that teach the subject live with their own personnel need not use teachers with formal theological education.
- Successful completion of 40 courses and two applied/verified (practical) courses for each diploma will earn the student a Licentiate in Theology.
The Academic Program
- Lecturers for the Academic Program have Ph.D. level qualifications in a relevant field of study.
- The subject matter approximates to first year University
education or above.
- It assumes successful completion of Discipleship Program assignments on the same courses.
- Assignments are essays that test whether the student has been able to comprehend and grapple with the subject matter.
- Passing sufficient Academic Program modules qualifies students in formal educational institutions (Accreditation towards Degree program).
- In order to qualify for formal accreditation the student must complete:
1. 40 courses (completing both discipleship and academic assignments)
2. Two applied/verified courses for each diploma
3. An oral exam after the completion of steps 1 & 2 for each diploma
4. A research essay after 1, 2, & 3 for each diploma
The Degree Program
The Bachelor of Christian Studies and Bachelor of Christian Studies are issued by St. Stephen’s University, a chartered university in New Brunswick, Canada that offers legally recognized Bachelors and Masters Qualifications. This program is more in depth than the two previous programs. The two previous programs must be completed as well as two of the four diplomas must be completed in a mentored group setting.*
Diploma in Kingdom Theology
This Diploma specializes in the theology, practice, defense, and philosophy of the Vineyard movement. The skills outcome is to do kingdom ministry. This diploma can function in various ways. It can be:
- used as a course for interns;
- completed in one year;
- used for emerging leaders;
- made compulsory for leaders of churches being adopted into the Vineyard or leaders entering from other church traditions.
Diploma in Biblical Theology
This Diploma specializes in the study of biblical books, biblical themes, hermeneutics (interpretation), and homiletics (preaching). The skills outcome is general biblical knowledge, effective biblical interpretation, and teaching/preaching. While this Diploma will continue to be developed, sufficient courses are available to enable students to obtain the Diploma.
Diploma in Practical Theology
This Diploma specializes in everything that relates to the local church: its health, ministry, leadership, and mission. The skills outcome is local church leadership and mission. While this Diploma will continue to be developed, sufficient courses are available to enable students to obtain the Diploma.
Arts Diploma
This is currently in preparation through our partnership with St. Stephens University.
