Preferred Food Items: Green beans, corn, peas, pork & beans, soups, macaroni & cheese, tuna, rice, peanut butter & jelly, spaghetti sauce & noodles, cereal, fruit/applesauce, and box potatoes.

Helping Hands Food Pantry Needs You
We have been busier than ever and recently had to turn families away because we didn't have enough food. Our ability to purchase food from the FoodBank is at an all-time low. We need your help to restock our pantry shelves. Please bring your items to the church and leave them in the hallway near the kitchen. Thanks for helping us feed our community.

"Feed the hungry! Help those in trouble! Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you shall be as bright as day. And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy you with all good things, and keep you healthy too; and you will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring."
                                                                                                            -Isaiah 58:10-11 (TLB)

Due to the large increase in the number of families we are serving each month, the Helping Hands Food Pantry is looking for local businesses and civic groups that wil partner with us by holding food drives. If you work at or own a business, or if you belong to a civic organization that you think would like to help, stop by our food table in the hallway and find out how we can help you have a successful food drive. For more information, contact Donna Tanner at 757.724.7823.

"Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?"
                                                                                                            -James 2:15-16

The Bible tells us to share generously with those in need, and good things will come to us in turn. We are not meant to live hard-hearted or self-centered lives. This is never made clearer than in Matthew 25:31-46. A greedy, miserly life leaves us devoid of anything but an empty craving for more possessions, more power or more status.

He who gives to the poor will never want, but he who shuts his eyes will have many curses.
                                                                                                                                  -Proverbs 28:27 (NAS)
