What is alpha?
Alpha is an 11-week opportunity to explore the validity and relevance of the Christian faith. It is a practical introduction to the basics of Christianity with loads of opportunity for debate and discussion. The style of alpha is very informal, friendly, and non-pressured. Every question and opinion are welcome.
Who is alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone, even if you have never been in a church. The course is for those seeking answers about the Christian faith, Christians wanting to brush up on the basics, and those seeking answers to the really big questions in life, such as "Why am I here?" Alpha truly is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life while having fun and making friends.
How did alpha start?
Alpha started in England 20 years ago and is now taught worldwide by virtually every Christian denomination, including Vineyard Churches, Roman Catholic, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, Baptist, and the list goes on and on. (Please visit

www.alphausa.org for more information.)
What happens during a typical alpha course?
Weekly: A great dinner starts off each session at 6:15 pm followed by an engaging video and small group discussion time. Each session ends promptly at 9 pm.
Mid-course (week 6): Alpha retreat weekend, leave the cell phones and the city behind. A time to relax, learn, and make new friends.
Course end: Celebration dinner; a time to share and remember.
The next alpha session will begin on February 4, 2009. For additional information, contact Mark & Sharon Holmquist at 857.7847. |
